ZIM has announced the launch of ZIM eCommerce Xpress (ZEX), a new service from South China to Los Angeles US West Coast, from 22 June.
The new ZEX service from Yantian and DaChan Bay, South China to Los Angeles, US West Coast will deploy five vessels with a nominal capacity of 2,800TEU and will be the fastest on the market, with a transit time of 12 days, according to the Israeli carrier.
A ZIM spokesperson confirmed to Container News that the Haifa-based shipping company will be the sole operator of ZEX.
In addition, the shipping company is making available air freight solutions to final destinations from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), according to demand.
“Some of our customers, especially NVOs and International Freight Forwarders, are already designing their product so it can be sent to final destination via air freight,” unveiled ZIM’s spokesman.
Executive vice president of Pacific services Nissim Yochai, said “ZIM is coming back to the Pacific South West (PSW) with a Fast, Punctual & Reliable service… This service is also an excellent and reliable substitute for air freight, with much more affordable prices and the best value for money.”
In addition, the new service offers a Wednesday departure from Shenzhen (Yantian & DaChan Bay), late cut-off time, and Monday cargo availability in Los Angeles (PAG WBCT). It also provides rail connections to additional destinations including Chicago, Memphis, Dallas, Kansas City and New York.
ZIM said ZEX is designed to cater to the increasing needs of eCommerce customers, especially now due to the growing eCommerce demand following the Covid-19 crisis.
“This service is also an excellent and reliable substitute for air freight, with much more affordable prices and the best value for money,” stated Executive Vice President Pacific Services, Nissim Yochai.
