ZPMC dismisses US politicians cybersecurity allegations

China-based port equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) responded to recent allegations claiming that its machines could pose a cybersecurity threat to the United States.

The largest port crane manufacturer in the world said it “always strictly adheres to the laws and regulations of relevant countries and regions and has been operating in compliance with the applicable laws and regulatory requirements.”

The Chinese company pointed out that its cranes are used in several ports worldwide, including the United States, and are designed, manufactured, transported, assembled, commissioned and delivered strictly following international standards, applicable laws and regulations, while technical specifications are determined by each customer.

ZPMC denied claims from US politicians that its equipment could be dangerous for US cybersecurity, highlighting that such reports, without a sufficient review of the facts can easily mislead the public.
